You weren’t an easy goodbye,

But we agreed to disagree,

And knew being apart is how we’ll heal.

I close my eyes and it seems like ages ago

But you know I can still read your mind,

like it was just the day before.

I think of you and smile,

knowing that once upon a time,

You were mine.

I look at you and realise

I did something right.

You weren’t an easy goodbye.

And, though, apart we had to drift,

Our journey was a beautiful gift.

Found You

I found you.

When I sat by myself, introspecting,

You were in the reflection of the glass that I was holding.

When I walked the distance in solitary,

You were in the shadow that kept me company.

When the noise all around became overwhelming,

You were the voice in my head that got me going.

It was surprisingly easy to spot you in all the hullabaloo,

Once I knew what I was looking for was you.

You’re my confidence, the best part of me.

And against all odds, I found you in me.

Time-bound

I’m not yet ready for this moment to become a memory but I know I can’t rest.

There’s a greater unknown in the future but I have not even decoded the present.

I’m too slow to move on, too fast to get a hold on my thoughts;

So I’m pausing time in my mind, and trying to memorise everything that make this moment worth living for.

Scarfs and Scars

I match my scarfs with my attires,

some with colors and some with patterns.

Like I do my scars, with my memories

of places that I had dared to tread

where I found strength and a rush in my head

Like marks on my body,

that remind me of my journey,

and how worthy of them the destinations can be.

Now I match my scarfs with attires I wear;

Some with colors and some with patterns.
